DKK Lotto: The winning numbers of Monday 18th December were: 3, 28 and 30. There was no jackpot winner. KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday 20th December, the Christmas prizes were: 1st: Rita Townsend & Jackie Kenneally; 2nd: Philip Brennan & Nellie O’Shea, 3rd: Mary Delaney & Margaret Dunne; 4th: Emer Wallace & Carmel O’Sullivan; 5th: Moire Hickey & Nellie Lahart. Visitors are always welcome. Bridge is on Wednesdays at 8.00 p.m. Bridge resumes this Wednesday 3rd January after the Christmas break. There will be no Bridge on January 10th as the Shrughawadda Players “It’s the Real McCoy” will be on stage.


 


SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS  will stage their new play `Its the Real McCoy` from Jan 9th to Jan 12th 2018 in St Eoghan`s Centre, Kilmoganny at 8.00 p.m. nightly. Admission €10 Concessions €7 – on Tuesday night only. Tickets are now available in the usual outlets.

In the Leinster Adult 40 x 20 championships in the Junior B Singles Diarmuid Burke (Kells) beat Stephen Smullen (Kildare) and Anthony Martin (Kells) beat Eoghan Doheny (Laois).


Congratulations to Eoin Brennan (Kells) on his Leinster Young Male Player of the Year 2017 Award. He will be presented with his Award in early January 2018.


 


CATHY CAHILL of Hill Road, Kilmoganny died peacefully in the company of her loving husband Ramie and family, Paul, Ramie, Statia, Richie and James on the morning of 26th December after a long illness. During her long illness her husband, Ramie, was outstanding in his care. She is also survived by her brothers Brian and Matt, her sister Marie and her mother Annie Hennessy, grandchildren, in-laws, many relatives, neighbours and friends. Her remains reposed in Molloy’s Funeral Home in Callan before removal to St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny where they were received by Rev. Nicholas Flavin P.P. on Thursday evening. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday last by Rev. Nicholas Flavin with Rev. Fergus Farrell as Con-Celebrant. The readings, prayers of the faithful and music were by family members. During the offertory procession symbols of her life were presented. She was laid to rest in Kilmoganny cemetery. May she rest in peace.


 


MAURA GOREY of Kilree, Kells passed away quietly and very unexpectantly on Friday last in her home. She is survived by her Husband Sean, sons Richard and John, Daughter Anne, Son in law, Pat, daughter in law Breda, grandchildren, relatives and friends.  Her remains reposed in Molloy’s Funeral Home in Callan and were removed from her home to St. Leonard’s Church on Sunday for 11.00 a.m. mass. Her remains were received by Rev. Nicholas Flavin P.P. The readings and prayers of the faithful were read by family members. During the offertory procession her grand-children played music and her Daughter-in-law, Breda, sang at communion. Music and hymns during the mass were sung by the local choir with organist Pascal Grace. She was laid to rest in the family plot in Tullaherin. May she rest in peace.


 


WEDDING BELLS sounded last Saturday for Suzanne Donovan, Ballygowan, Kilmoganny and Eoin Reid, Ballyhale in St. Nicholas’ Church, Tullahought. The bride was given away by her father, Jimmy, The bridesmaids were Emma Nolan, Lorraine Donovan and Rachel Donovan with Patrick Reid as Best Man and T. J. Reid and Richard Reid as Groomsmen. Fionn Reid was the page boy. During the lighting of marriage candles Eoin also lit a candle in memory of his deceased mother, grandparents and relatives. The readings and prayers of the faithful were read by family friends. Parents, Eileen Donovan and Sean Reid presented the offertory gifts. The mass was celebrated by Rev. Nicholas Flavin with Rev. Fearghus O’Fearghail as con-celebrant.


 


KILMOGANNY FOOTBALL CLUB will hold its A.G.M. in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan on this Friday 5th January at 8.00 p.m.  The proposed Plan for the coming year will be outlined and discussed at the meeting.


 


THE FEAST OF THE EPIPHANY, next Saturday, brings the liturgical season of Christmas to a close. Masses for the Feast day will be in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny on Friday 5th at 7.00 p.m. and on Saturday at 9.30 a.m. and in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on Saturday 6th at 11.00 a.m.


 


RETIRED: Well-known Postman, Wattie Cullen, from Newtown, who has delivered post for forty years plus retired on 29th December 2017. He was a very friendly and smiling presence as he delivered the post in the Kells and Dunamaggan areas. He is wished every happiness in his retirement.
