KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday 7th March were: 1st: Margaret O’Shea & Nellie Lahart; 2nd; Tina Ronan & Josie O’Gorman; 3rd: Emer Wallace & Carmel O’Sullivan.  Visitors are always welcome and it is not necessary to have a partner. A Charity Bridge night will be held on Wednesday 21st March in aid of St. Joseph’s Care Home for the Elderly in Kilmoganny. The starting time for this event will be 7.30 p.m. Visitors are very welcome to support this worthy cause.

THE DUNNA DASH: Last Sunday 11th March, following the departure of Storm Emma & The Beast from the East the 5th Dunna Dash 5km Family Fun Run in aid of St. Leonard’s National School took place and on a beautiful sunny day.  249 entrants took to the start and completed the 5km race. First runner home was local Denis O’Sullivan in a time of 18 min 20 sec.  Adele Walsh was the first female to cross the line for the second year in a row with a new course record time of 18min 48 sec. First juvenile male was young Noah Gilmore in 22 min 03sec and first female juvenile hot on his heals was his sister Louisa Gilmore in 22 min 14 sec. The first Parent and Primary School child to cross the line together went to Max & Jay Edwards in a new course record of 23 min 10 sec. All juveniles who completed the course received a medal at the finish and to see the children’s happy faces as they crossed the line was worth everything.


A huge thank you to all the wonderful volunteers on the day without whom the race could not have been possible and to all who helped in anyway in making the race a success. Also thanks to the sponsors IFAC, Carpet Options, Fallon’s Pharmacy, Derek McLoughlin, Highway Safety & Dawn Meats. A number of anonymous sponsorship for which the organisers are very grateful were also received and finally thanks to all who donated spot prizes. KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the Adult County 40 x 20 championships in the Junior B Doubles Michael Power/Colin McKenna (Kells) lost out to Wesley Smyth/Shane Walsh (Windgap); in the Senior Doubles Diarmuid Burke/ Brendan Burke (Kells) defeated Keith Burke/Kirk Greene (O’Loughlin’s) and in the Senior Singles Patrick Funchion (Kells) defeated Ciaran Neary (Talbot’s Inch).


Good luck to the Kells players John Hayes, Cathal Buckley and Joseph Prendergast who are part of the Kilkenny U12/13 Team 6 in their Leinster Final and to Harry Delaney who is part of the Kilkenny U14/15 Team 6 in their Leinster semi-final.


 


 


COFFEE MORNING in aid of the Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team will take place in St, Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on Friday 23rd March from 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 Noon. Your support would be appreciated.


 


OPEN MIC NIGHT: The next Open Mic is on Thursday 15th March at 7.30 p.m. in St Eoghan's Centre, Kilmoganny. The wonderful and gifted pupils from our National School will perform for the first half, the usual Open Mic will be in the second half. All are invited. If you'd like to tell a story sing a song play music read a poem please contact Alva on 085 – 8641378. All donations will go to St. Eoghan’s School.


 


THE HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN group will meet on Tuesday next 20th March in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny at 8.00 p.m. The grave stone inscriptions in Dunamaggan Grave Yard are almost complete and volunteers are invited to help with the tabulation of inscriptions in Kilree Grave Yard. Other items for discussion on the night are: Social Care in the Parish, the Glory Drainage and an update on the Brennans in the parish.


 


ST. PATRICK’S DAY, next Saturday, will have masses in Kilmoganny on Friday 16th at 7.00 p.m. and at 9.30 a.m. on Saturday 17th. Mass in Dunamaggan will be at 11.00 a.m. on Saturday 17th.  St. Patrick’s Day is a day on which the Irish abroad are remembered and the Irish Episcopal Council for Emigrants has requested that a collection be taken up on St. Patrick’s Day for emigrants.
