BIDDY FITZPATRICK (Nee POWER) of the Horse & Hound, Kilmoganny was laid to rest in Kilmoganny Cemetery last Wednesday 11th July. She died after a long illness in Stratmore Nursing Home on the previous Sunday in the company of her loving family. She reposed at her son Pat’s home until her removal to St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny for Mass of Christian Burial at noon on last Wednesday. Her remains were received by Rev. Nicholas Flavin P. P. assisted by Rev. Sean O’Connor. Prayers were lead each evening while she reposed by Rev. Nicholas Flavin. Her former customers in the Horse & Hound, numerous acquaintances from the Hunting and equestrian fraternity, neighbours and friends expressed their sympathy with the family. Cllr. Matt Doran was among the sympathisers. As was fitting to Biddy, whose life was dedicated to family and then the horses her remains were brought to the church by a Horse drawn Carriage and from the Church to the Cemetery in a similar manner. The Hounds from the Kilmoganny Harriers lead the funeral procession from the Church to the Ce4metery where members of the Kilmoganny Harriers formed a guard of honour.

At the celebration of the mass of Christian Burial members of her family read the readings and prayers, presented the gifts for mass and also symbols of her life. In her younger years she was a dedicated member and participant in Kilmoganny Harriers and other Hunts. She was also very involved in equine breading. Bingo was one of her great pastimes. She was devoted and loving to the various generations of her family. Four of the mass servers at her final mass were great grand-children. The singing at the mass was by Pamela Kennedy. The family also thanked all those who care for Biddy in her later years including, nurses, Doctors, St. Luke’s Hospital, Stratmore Lodge, Nursing Home and her daughter Margaret who cared for her before she was admitted to hospital. She is survived by her children Mary, Kathleen, Margaret, John, Pat and Willie, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephew, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.
