Kells Handball Club Report to May 19th 2019: In the 40 x 20 Junior Nationals in GU11 Shauna Hayes (Kells) won 2 out of 3 games. In BU13A Joseph Prendergast (Kells) lost out to Ben Sullivan (Cork) in the Cup and in the Plate lost out to Adam McKenna (Cavan). Also in BU13A Cathal Buckley (Kells) lost out to Oliver McCrystal (Cavan) in the Cup and in the Plate lost out to Michael Brennan (Clogh). In BU15A Harry Delaney (Kells) lost out in the Cup to Philip Halliday (Roscommon) and in the Plate he defeated Szymon Polewski (Monaghan) and Rory Carthy (Roscommon) but was beaten in the U15A Plate final by Conor Murphy (Wexford) 21-20. Well done to you all.



Eminent Child Psychologist and Irish Tmes contributor Peadar Maxwell will give a talk on 'Raising Resilient Children' in St Leonard's National school Dunnamaggin TONIGHT Wednesday May 22nd at 7.30pm. He will cover topics including Bullying, Social Media and Childhood Anxiety. The event is free to parents and staff of St Leonards. Guests are welcome for a contribution of €7, payable on the door.

Dunnamaggin LGFC success in Athletics. Congratulations and well done to four of the Dunnamaggin LGFC U14 Girls, Bláithín Holden, Aoife Healy, Louisa Gilmore all KCH AC and Aoife O’Shea Thomastown AC who won a number of Medals in 80m, 200m, 800m, 4x100m Relay, Long Jump and High Jump at the recent Kilkenny Track & Field county championships in Scanlon Park. A talented bunch of girls who will also compete for Dunnamaggin LGFC in the Féile in Galway later in the Summer. Well done Girls.


Droichead Family Resource Centre, West Street, Callan has an exciting programme of events coming up for our Thursday morning Droichead Friends Shed. These will include cookery demonstrations, Nutrition and Movement sessions and Art/Craft sessions. Look out for further information.

Callan Men’s Shed member Paddy Cunningham is taking part in a charity skydive on Friday 7th June in Co. Offaly. His charity is the Irish Wheelchair Association and we wish him all the best! Anyone interested in joining the Callan Men’s Shed can pop along to meet them on a Friday between 2pm & 4pm.


Parents! Escape the house on a Monday morning and come to Droichead Family Resource Centre! Jess runs Toddlers & Tea at 9.30am – 10.45am and Babies & Bumps at 11am – 12.15pm. All Aboard for the Great Oudoors: Staff & Parents introductory days for supporting people with Disabilities to access outdoor Adventure Sports


These sessions are to demonstrate the possibilities there are for people with disabilities to take part in Outdoor Adventure Activities in Kilkenny and how best to support people to take part in activities in the Great Outdoors!

Over the last number of years, KRSP has worked closely with Castlecomer Discovery Park, outdoor clubs and other activity providers to ensure they have received training in delivering activities to people with disabilities and there are so many activities available locally including boating, archery, orienteering, forest schools and lots of other ways of spending time in the outdoors to suit all abilities.

Calling all Gardeners.
L'arche Kilmoganny are having a FREE plant exchange and plant giveaway. 10.30 to 12.00. Tuesday 28th May. If you have too many seedlings or plants that are spreading then 're pot and lable' and head over to L'arche. Any gardeners who are clearing out their sheds and have spare garden hand tools can donate them to the L'arche garden project where they will be put to good use. Everyone welcome.


A date for your diary. 10.30am to 1.00pm Tuesday 28th May. Kilmoganny Community Coffee Morning with recycle table, jigsaw, board games and an opportunity to sit, have a cup of coffee and do nothing! Donations of cakes and biscuits welcome.
