Kells Handball Club Report to January 5th 2020: Kells Handball Club had two pairs entered in the Gael Linn 40 x 20 U13 boy/girl mixed competition. Ciaran Hickey and Emily Shortall (Kells) competed in Clogh. Tim Doherty and Mia O’Connell (Kells) competed in Kells. Tim and Mia defeated Padraig Egan/Jenny Saunders (Windgap) in the semi final but lost out in a great game of handball to Cian Doherty/Katie Jordan (Kilfane) in the final. Well done to all for their participation.


Juvenile GAA Club AGM: Please note Juvenile GAA AGM will take place on Friday 10th Jan, St.Leonards Hall, Dunnamaggin @8pm. Members & Parents invited to attend.


Memorial Tractor Run: A Tractor Run in memory of Jimmy Dowling takes place on Sun 19th Jan leaving from Dunnamaggin. Registration is from 11.30am. There will also be an Auction and Raffle on the day. Proceeds to Home Care team, St.Josephs home and Dunnamaggin Hurling Club. Tractor Auction: The Dowling family have very kindly donated Jimmy's Grey Ferguson Diesel tractor and plough to be auctioned before his tractor run on 19th January. Please spread the word.

Dunnamaggin Parish Development Group: A newly established Art Group takes place every Tuesday evening in the Old School Dunnamaggin from 7.00 - 9.30pm. All levels of experience or none are welcome as the purpose of the group is to come together to share techniques and knowledge of painting on canvas. Droichead FRC News: The after schools programme at Droichead Family Resource Centre, Callan has had a great autumn with lots of fun activities including cookery classes and drama with Susan Reid of Troopers. There are places available at the moment. Working families can get financial support through the new National Childcare Scheme. Droichead After Schools is available until 6pm. "Baby Massage Classes available in the GAA hall in Hugginstown every Tuesday from the 7th of January to the 4th of February from 10am to 11.30am. Classes include teaching parents the different massage strokes and a theory section each week ranging from child development, oils used in massage and much more. Tea/coffee cake and chats afterwards. Recovery College South East in Greensbridge Kilkenny has a number of workshops planned for January: Music for Mood on Tuesday 14th January: Learning Self Compassion & Kindness for Myself on January 21st: Loneliness and Isolation January 23rd: Good Stress/Bad Stress January 28th. WRAP: Wellness Recovery Action Plan takes place over two days 10am to 4pm, Thursday and Friday January 30th and 31st, again the training must be booked in advance to secure a place.


Enrolments are now open for St. Leonards National School Dunnamaggin for September. Forms are available in the school and need to be returned by Feb. 28th.


Kilkenny Dyspraxia Kilkenny Dyspraxia DCD support group will be hosting a Public Meeting in the Orchard House this Wednesday evening 15th January at 7:30PM entitled “Moving your Mind and Dyspraxia”. Speaking on the night will be Gillian Coady Coach of Relax Kids a programme designed teach children and their parents valuable tools & techniques to support their own wellbeing and Kevin Hennessy Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, Kevin is an Authority on CBT ,Anxiety and how the Dyspraxic mind works. Also on the night a discussion will be held on establishing a Dyspraxia Friendly Multi Sports and Social Club for Children and Teens for Kilkenny City and Environs.
