Knitted Together Project

In 2020 and 2021 the Arts Office ran a fabulous project called Knitted Together. Communities and volunteers around the County were asked to knit or crochet squares resulting in 100s of volunteers knitting and crocheting at home during the Covid-19 restrictions. In 2021 lots of beautiful blankets and hundreds of squares were collected and created into more gorgeous blankets. All of these fabulous blankets have been donated to the various charity shops in Kilkenny to help raise much needed funds for some great causes. So, don’t miss out, one of these beautiful locally made blankets could be yours. Go visit your local charity shops to purchase a beautiful blanket for yourself or a loved one. List of Charity Shops - Enable Ireland (St. Kierans St), Irish Cancer Society (Parliament St), NCBI shop (High St, Kilkenny and The Square, Castlecomer), St. Vincent de Paul (Butts Green), The Samaritans (St. Kierans St) and Jack and Jill Foundation (Friary St)

The funding to make all this happen comes from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and is being delivered locally by Kilkenny County Council’s Arts Office and the Watergate Theatre. The concerts will be free to attend but those attending will have to have tickets which are available from Wednesday 8th September online through www.watergatetheatre.com.
