KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: Kells Handball Club would like to offer their sympathies to the family of the late Pat O’Keeffe from the Mullinavat Handball Club.


In the Adult Leinster 60 x 30 championships in Junior Doubles C.J. Delaney/Dan Breen (Kells) gave a walkover to Niall Maher/Padraic Roberts (Wexford); in the Senior Singles Brian Manogue (Kells) defeated Ciaran Neary (Talbot’s Inch) in the tie break; in the Junior Singles Ger McGrath (Kells) lost out to David Kenny (Wexford); in the Junior Doubles Keith Burke / Michael Carrie (Dublin) defeated C. J. Delaney (Kells)/Stephen Reilly (St. Pat’s) and also in the Junior Doubles Dan Fenlon/ Kevin Barrett (Carlow) defeated Anthony Martin/Diarmuid Burke (Kells); in the Senior Singles Brian Manogue (Kells) lost out to Gavin Buggy (Wexford)  in the tie break and in the Ladies Junior B Doubles Aoife Walsh (Kells)/Cora Delaney (Clogh) lost out to Meadbh Ní Dhálaigh/Lisa McKenna (Dublin).

KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday August 17th were: 1st; Grace Landy & Elizabeth Lanigan; 2nd; Nicholas Flavin & Philip Brennan; 3rd; Josie O’Gorman & Emer Wallace. Bridge takes place each Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. Visitors are always welcome and it is not necessary to have a partner as one will be provided on the night. Beginner’s classes in Bridge will commence on Wednesday 5th October. No Card knowledge is necessary.


KELLS KINGS CHARITY CYCLE will take place this Saturday 27th August in Kells Village in aid of Cois Nore Cancer Support Centre Kilkenny. There are five cycle routes to choose from 116km, 70km, 45km, 40km and a family cycle of 7.5km.


A Table Quiz will also be held in Sean Delaney’s Pub Kells on the Saturday next 27th August in aid of Cois Nore- Supported by the Kells Hall Committee. Table of 4 - €40 starting at 8.30 p.m sharp.


The young Kells Kings volunteers have this year come up with a new idea to close this year’s cycle event. The ‘Forget Me Not’ bags will line Kells Bridge and will be lit by candle light on the night of the 27th of August. The bags can be personalised and returned to Kells on the day of the cycle. The bags can be bought in Bob’s Shop Kells, Sean Delaney’s Bar, Mill Cafe and An Bláthanna Béag in Stoneyford. Bags cost €5 each and all proceeds go to Cois Nore. A Raffle takes place on the day. The first prize is two All-Ireland tickets. HURLERS CO-OP DRAW: Dunnamaggin GAA would like to thank all who supported and sold tickets for the hurlers coop draw this year. It is one of the major sources in income for the club. The club had its largest amount of winners in a number of years and we had winners in each of the five draws. Congratulations to winners Aine Walsh, John Lawlor, Joan Phelan and Sean Delaney. Special congratulations to Pat Delahunty who won the top prize of a car/cheque in the third draw. The club also won the Special club draw twice (See picture of Pat with his cheque attached.)


DUNAMAGGIN GAA CLUB NEWS: The past few weeks have been extremely busy for the Juvenile section of the club. The U 6's are continuing to go from strength to strength and have had matches away to Ballyhale, Gowran and Kilmacow. The U 8's fresh from beating Thomastown in the B final in the Thomas O'Shea Blitz have also played Gowran, Danesfort & Tullogher. The U 10's have also been busy playing Carrickshock Callan, Kilmacow & Mullinavat. The U 12's have started their Go Games which is a structured fixture list for that age group. They have played Graigue Ballycallan, Dicksboro, James Stephens & Mullinavat and have done well in all games. The U 6’s, 8’s &10's training every Tuesday evening in the New GAA pitch in Kilmoganny and Saturday mornings in Dunnamaggin. (Picture of U8's who played in Tullogher attached)


TALENT CONTEST: Kilmoganny Hunt is running a talent contest between local pubs. Heats will take place each weekend for 2 participants each night to go through from each heat to a final which will be held in October. The prizes are: €500 to the winner, €200 second place and €50 for third place. The contest in Dunphy's, Kilmoganny is being held Saturday night next 27th at 9.30.p.m. anyone interested I n taking part should contact Pamela at 087 – 9208723.


THE DRIVE FOR LIAM QUIZ in aid of Kilkenny hurlers, organises locally by Dunamaggan GAA Club, will take place in Shirley’s on this coming Thursday August 25th at 8.30 p.m.. It is €20 for a team of 4. Please support. 1st Prize: 8 All-Ireland Tickets & 8 Banquet tickets; 2nd Prize: 4 All-Ireland Tickets & 4 Banquet tickets; 3rd Prize: 4 Banquet Tickets. Special U 18 prize of 4 All-Ireland tickets.
