REIGN OF TERROR OBSTACLE RACE: The event hosted jointly by Kells Playground and Dunamaggin GAA Club in the Picturesque and ancient village of Kells along both banks of the Kings river and passing under the road and along by the old Priory and Mill gave onlookers a magnificent view of the spectacle. The MC of the day, dressed in the robes of former residents of the Priory, Willie Kearney gave a non-stop commentary on the event. On Saturday morning last the tremendous work of numerous volunteers was put to the test. The glorious sunshine and warm October temperatures in calm conditions made it an ideal day for competitors and onlookers. The Village of Kells was hosting the Reign of Terror, a 5 km and 10 km obstacle course race like no other. After months of planning and an unbelievable community effort the day finally arrived. During the preparation garages and sheds were flat out and there wasn't a piece of timber safe for miles around as the making obstacles in the lead up was the priority. The course was in place and looked splendid. The weather was spectacular and the saying "build it and they will come" springs to mind when 727 took part over the course of the day. The opening group of elite competitors started at 10.00 a.m. participating in the 10 km race which served as an OCR qualifier. Locals were to the fore from this group. Local athletes Donna Dunne and Sean Connery won the women's and men's races respectively. Sean Connery leading all home in just over 57 minutes on the testing course. They both received hand crafted limestone pieces from local artist Kevin Fennelly. Once their race started, the next group consisting of 40 competitors were let off 10 minutes later and so on for the rest of the day. The race went off without a hitch and it was truly an incredible day for the parish. Thanks to the Sponsors, Organisers, Land Owners, Stewards (over 160!!),  Competitors and anyone who helped in anyway in making the inaugural year of The Reign of Terror such an amazing success.

U 21 HURLERS SUCCESS: On Saturday evening last the U 21 hurlers contested the South quarter final Vs Graignamanagh in Dunnamaggin. The home side were first off the mark with some excellent points from Ronan Coffey (2) and Michael Cody before Graig could respond with a point. Dunnamaggin were however starting to exert pressure on their opposition all over the field and John Fitzpatrick (4), Luke Fitzpatrick and Michael Cody added points before Graig responded again with a point. Dunnamaggin continued to add points as they were gaining advantage all over the field to lead them on a half time score of Dunnamaggin 0 - 13 Graignamanagh 0 - 4.

Dunnamaggin killed the game off in the first few mins of the second half when Luke Fitzpatrick and Andrew Fitzpatrick added further points before the onrushing John Fitzpatrick collected a perfectly placed ball from Ronan Coffee to rattle the net. Ronan Coffee then decided to bag a goal for himself from the next ball in to add further misery onto Graig. Dunnamaggin continued to exert their advantage for the remainder of the half, scoring some great points, one in particular from Darragh O'Keeffe was particularly impressive, Chris Keane  added a third goal towards the finish in this one sided encounter. Graig however did not give up and got a goal of their own but it was too little too late. Dunnamaggin 3 - 24 Graignamanagh 1 - 06
