KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday November 30th were: 1st: Paul Tomsett & Dave Sutton; 2nd; Carmel O’Sullivan & Phyllis Purcell; 3rd: Jackie Kenneally & Rita Townsend. Bridge takes place each Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. Visitors are always welcome and it is not necessary to have a partner as one will be provided on the night.

KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: The Open Senior 40 x 20 Interclub All Ireland semi-final and final championships was held in Cullohill, Co. Laois on Saturday 3rd December 2016. Kells Handball Club’s Senior team of Patrick Funchion, Peter Funchion, Brendan Burke, Brian Manogue and Dan Breen defeated Mallow (Cork) team of Dale Cusack, Tadgh Carroll, Ryan Harkin Tadgh O'Neill, David Walsh in the semi-final 105 – 55.  In the Final they faced tough opposition from the Breacach (Tyrone) team of Shane O'Neill, Gabhain McCrystall, Johnny Woods, Pól Clarke and Sean Kerr. Peter Funchion defeated Gabhain McCrystall 21-13, 21-12, Brian Manogue and Brendan Burke took 20 and 14 off Johnny Woods and Sean Kerry in the doubles, and Patrick Funchion defeated Shane O’Neill 21-3 to win the All Ireland Final on a scoreline of 97-70.  This Senior All Ireland Team win is now two in a row for the Kells Handball Club having defeated Glenbeigh, Co. Kerry in last years All Ireland. This finishes off a great year for the Club and congratulations and very well done to all the lads.


 


 


A CASH DRAW & CHRISTMAS REFFLE will take place in St. Eoghan’s Centre on Saturday 17th December at 7.45 p.m. The prizes are: 1st; €800; 2nd; €300 and 3rd Hamper. Tickets are on sale and cost €5 each or a book of three for €10. The proceeds will go towards the purchase of a lawnmower for the cutting of grass on the new pitch in Kilmoganny. All support for this worthwhile event is very welcome.


 


FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION is this Thursday 8th December and it is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be on Wednesday 7th at 7.00 p.m. in Kilmoganny and on Thursday 8th at 9.30 a.m. in Kilmoganny and at 11.00 a.m. in Dunamaggan.


 


SURVEY OF YOUNG PEOPLE: The Southern Deanery Pastoral Council (SDPC) which has a lay representative from each of the 14 parishes in the south of the Diocese of Ossory currently undertaken a brief questionnaire on the attitudes of young people. It would greatly appreciate if parents/guardians would encourage their children/students to logging on to the following link: http://tinyurl.com/sdpc2016. The questionnaire can be completed in five minutes and will help to all going forward in understanding the views of young people and their relationship with the Church.


 


OPEN MIC NIGHT: The next Open Mic is a special Christmas one and it is taking place in St Joseph’s Home Kilmoganny on Thursday 15th December from 7.15 p.m. The organisers would like to thank everyone who attended their November Open Mic night which raised €48 for the upkeep of St Eoghan's Community Centre. The organisers are looking forward to seeing everyone at St Joseph’s and all donations will go to St Joseph’s and L'Arche. PENITENTIAL SERVICES in preparation for Christmas will be held during week-end masses in Kilmoganny and Dunamaggan on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th December.


 


THE MONTHLY MASS FOR CHILDREN who will receive their First Holy Communion next year will be celebrated on next Sunday in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan at 11.00 a.m.


 


THE ST. VINVENT dePAUL SOCIETY will hold church door collections on the weekend of 17th & 18th December.


 


KILMOGANNY SCHOOL ROAD SAFETY: Cllr. Matt Doran welcomed the grant of €30,000 to Kilkenny Co. Council, under the Clár Scheme, for safety improvements at St. Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny. The improvements will include Signage, Lighting and Pedestrian Crossing. He said that the arrival of the grant will bring to an end many years of hard work and persistence in seeking such improvements. He also welcomed similar improvements in Windgap which have taken much hard work.
