KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday 11th January are: 1st: Elizabeth Lanigan & Grace Landy; 2nd: Peadar Kelly & Kathleen Kelly; 3rd: Ellen Delahunty & Paschal Grace. Bridge takes place each Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. Visitors are always welcome and partners will be provided if necessary. There will be no Bridge on Wednesday week 25th January as the play “Kevin’s Bed” is being staged.

KEVIN’S BED DRAMA IN KILMOGANNY; The next drama I to be staged by the Shrughawadda Players in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny from Tuesday 24 – Friday 27th January 2017 is a comedy by Bernard Farrell called “Kevin’s Bed”.  Tickets at €10 are available from Jackie Kenneally P.O., 051- 648001, Pete Moran 051 – 648283 or Maura Dunphy 051 – 648252. There is a concession on tickets on Tuesday night only for €7 for those who qualify for concessions.


 


KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the Adult Leinster 40 x 20 championships in the Junior B Singles Anthony Martin (Kells) defeated Gareth Clarke (Kildare) and C.J. Delaney (Kells) was defeated by Shane Terry (Wexford); in the Senior Singles Peter Funchion (Kells) defeated David Hope (Offaly) and defeated Michael Gregan (Wicklow) in two games. In the Juvenile 40 x 20 County championships the representative for Kells were in the Boys U 12 Singles Joseph Prendergast, Boys U 13 Singles Harry Delaney, Girls U 13 Singles Orla Buckley, Boys U 14 Singles Padraig Lennon, Girls U 14 Singles Rachel Doherty, Boys U 15 Singles Cillian Lawrence, Girls U 15 Singles Olivia Mahoney, Boys U 16 Singles Mikey Prendergast, Girls U 16 Singles Laura Condon, Boys U 17 Singles Michael Power who defeated Shane Cullen (Windgap) in the final and Girls U 17 Singles Kym Ryan who defeated Margaret Foley (Windgap) in the final. Well done to all our clubs participants.


 


LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL A.G.M. The Dunamaggin Ladies Gaelic Football Club will hold is A.G.M. in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan on this Friday at 8.30 p.m. All who are interested are invited to attend.


 


RICHARD O’KEEFFE of Newchurch and formally of Kilree was laid to rest in Kilmoganny Cemetery on Saturday last. He died unexpectantly at his residence on Wednesday last. He is survived by his brothers Eddie, Michael, Pat, Gerry and Vincent and by his sisters Sadie, Nellie, Joan and Margaret, in-laws, nieces, nephews, relative and friends. His remains were received in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan by Rev. Nicholas Flavin P.P.. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Larry O’Keeffe with Revs. Nicholas Flavin and Liam Cassin as Con-Celebrants. The readings and bidding prayers were read by members of the family as was the presentation of gifts and symbols.  May he rest in peace.


 


TIME TO GET INTO SHAPE: This year’s Dunna Dash 5 km family fun run and walk in aid of St. Leonard’s National school Dunnamaggin will take place on Sunday 26th February at 12.30 p.m..
