KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of last Wednesday 24th January were: 1st: Jackie Kenneally & Rita Townsend; 2nd: Grace Landy & Elizabeth Lanigan; 3rd: Philip Brennan & Nellie O’Shea. Visitors are always welcome to Bridge in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on Wednesdays at 8.00 p.m. Partners will be provided on the night.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION was celebrated in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on last Saturday 27th January. 43 pupils from the three schools in the Parish received the sacrament. The theme of the celebration was “The Family” as this is the year of the family. The music was provided by Olivia Dunne on keyboard. The tin whistle presentation was by the pupils under the leadershi9p of Vera O’Dwyer. The choir from the three schools was under the baton of Roseanna Connelly. The children presented symbols representing their faith, families, care for the needy, sports, books of kindness compiled during the past year, the chrism for anointing and the recent letter of Pope Francis on @the Joy of Love’ and the bible. The readings and communion reflection were read by parents as parents also presented the Bread and Wine at the offertory. The celebrant of the mass who administered confirmation was Rev. Nicholas Flavin P.P. He complimented the parents and teachers on the way they prepared their children for the day. KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the Adult 40 x 20 League Division 4 Wesley Smyth (Windgap) beat Colin McKenna (Kells); in Division 2 Eoin Brennan (Kells) beat Jack Holden (Kilfane); in Division 4 Conor Condon (Kells) defeated Wesley Smyth (Windgap); in the Division 1 League Final Patrick Funchion (Kells) defeated Shane Dunne (Clogh); in Division 2 Anthony Martin (Kells) defeated Jack Holden (Kilfane) and in the League Final he defeated Eamonn Hawe (Windgap);  in Division 3 C J Delaney (Kells) defeated Shane Walsh (Windgap) but lost out in the Final to Billy O’Neill (Clogh) and in the Division 4 League Final  Michael Power (Kells) lost out to Gary Law (Mullinavat). Well done to everyone who participated in the 40 x 20 League.


 


BLESSING OF THROATS for the Feast of St. Blaze will take place before and after week-end masses on this weekend at masses in Dunamaggan and Kilmoganny.


 


HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN next meeting will be held in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on Tuesday next 6th February at 8.00 p.m. All are welcome.


 


THE WEDDING WAS CELEBRATED last Saturday 27th January in St. Eoghan’s Church between Eilís Donohue, daughter of Declan and Kathleen Donohue of Ballyhall and Alan Mackey son of Matty and Ella Mackey of Rogerstown. The bride was given away by her father. The best man was Brian Mackey and the Maid of Honour was Claire Donohue, Amelia Donohue was the flower girl. The readings and prayers of the faithful were read by members of the family and friends. The gifts were presented by the mothers. Rev. Nicholas Flavin P.P. was the celebrant.
