ST. LEONARD’S SCHOOL NEWS: (1)Volleyball: 5th & 6th class from St Leonard’s N.S. took part in the Kilkenny Spikeball Championships recently. They had 4 teams taking part and after a fantastic day of fun, two teams emerged victorious- the boys team and one of the mixed teams. They now go on to the next level, the regional finals on March 9th in O’Loughlin’s. Good luck to both teams.

(2) Debating: St. Leonard’s are taking part in this year’s Concern Debating competition, competing against teams from all over Kilkenny. In the practise round they beat neighbours St. Brendan’s Newmarket. They then took on another neighbouring school Móin Ruadh and again emerged victorious. They now face Paulstown N.S in the third round debating the motion “Child Labour is a necessity in developing countries”. Hopefully St. Leonard’s will be successful in opposing the motion and move onto the next round. Team: Cathal Walsh (Captain) Megan Fallon, Grace O’Sullivan, Mark MacEneaney, Aidan Ryan, Clara Whelan Foxe.
