The Dunnamaggin Junior Hurlers got their League campaign off to a winning start on Monday evening last against neighbours Carrickshock. Dunnamaggin were 1st to score with points from Andrew Fitzpatrick and Sean Connery before Carrickshock responded. Sean Connery added another point before Carrickshock scored a goal from close range goal with 6 mins on the clock. Both sides swapped points but as the game continued it was Dunnamaggin who are starting to show their strength which some very good passages of play leading to some excellent scores. The game was starting to head Dunnamaggin’s way as we went into the final 10 minutes of the half where they hit six points to only one in response from their opposition. Peter Kenneally opened the second half scoring for Dunnamaggin but Carrickshock responded with their best period of the game where they scored three points of their own. This however was to be there only score for nearly 25 minutes. Dunnamaggin started scoring freely as the game progressed with some excellent accurate shooting built on a very solid defensive display to see them extend their lead by scoring seven points without response. As the game drew to close Carrickshock did threaten the Dunnamaggin goal but keeper Brian O Shea was alert and averted any danger. Dunnamaggin continued to score freely as a game headed for the final whistle and they run out winners Dunnamaggin 0:27 Carrickshock 1:08.
