The city side started the game well playing with the wind It was however Dunnamaggin who score a lucky goal when Andy Hickey was fouled and the ball that he played in during the referee’s advantage somehow eluded the O’Loughlins keeper. O’Loughlins however struck back with a goal of their own in the next passage of play when their full forward Vincent O’Grady gave Dunnamaggin keeper Joe Fitzpatrick no chance. Both sides traded points over the next few mins with Dunnamaggin’s coming through Alex Moore and Denis Walsh, both frees. O’Loughlins then hit a purple patch hitting four unanswered frees. As we headed into the last 10 mins of the half Alex slotted another free to Keep Dunnamaggin in touch. Conor Brett who was lively throughout found the net after some ping pong in front of goal for a few seconds. O’Loughlins then added a point as did Denis from the placed ball. With half time looming the city outfit broke forward again and after a fine initial stop by Joe in the goal the ball fell kindly to a waiting O’Loughlins player who had an easy touch in. Dunnamaggin started the second half well. The expected wind advantage had died down a bit but Harry Walsh coolly stepped up and slotted a 65’. Alex Moore and Andy were starting to get on a bit more ball and Andy slotted a nice point from play. Conor Kelly the O’Loughlins centre forward and free taker slotted another free to leave two between the sides as we hit the 10 min mark. Derick Carroll grabbed a great ball out of the sky on the edge of the square, turned and struck only for it to go barely wide.
