U14HC Vs Bennettsbridge Preliminary round
Fresh from their victory the previous week in the league final the U14 hurlers were out against the same opposition (Bennettsbridge) in Danesfort on Monday 20th in the Championship. Dunnamaggin Fielded without three of their starting team from the league final as the players were away on holidays but they still started very strongly scoring 2:2 in the first 10mins. The game was then held up for a while after Victor Costello received a heavy blow. It was Bennettsbridge who restarted better and actually went in at half time up by a point. The second half continued to be a close encounter with fine scores from both sides but it was only when the Dunnamaggin mentors moved Victor (still suffering from the earlier blow) from to Centre back to Centre forward the Game sung in Dunnamaggin’s favour. With Eddie Dunne and Darragh O’Keefe very tight in the corners and Dara Keane now on top at Centre Back, Victor pushed forward and scored 2:1. Bennettsbridge came back to score a goal of their own but it was not enough to effect the end result. FT Dunnamaggin 5:12 Bennettsbridge 4:6.
