Junior Hurling League Vs Mullinvat in Mullinvat 14th May 2013
The Dunnamaggin Junior hurlers started well in their second round clash in the junior hurling league against Mullinvat on Tuesday night. Anthony Kearney and Mullinvat traded points from the throw in. Eoghan Kearney, Ray Cody and Anthony fired over further points before Mullinvat responded with a point. Dunnamaggin were playing a fine brand of hurling and were very dominate in the centre diamond with Andrew Fitzpatrick, Aaron Doherty, Paddy Delaney and Anthony Kearney working very hard. This work rate yielded two further points from John Fitzpatrick and Paddy Delaney before Mullinvat pointed again. John added a further point before Mullinvat hit their purple patch of the half firing over three points before Eoghan pointed a free. Then, the killer blow just before half time when Mullinvat found the back of the net from one of the few balls that made it through the very strong Dunnamaggin half back line. Andrew Hickey and John Rohan came on for Donal O’Shea and James Kehoe at half time. Mullinvat pilled on the pressure from the restart with two quick points. They also forced an excellent save from the alert Adam Kenneally. Anthony pointed again but Mullinvat responded with a point. Eoghan Kearney pointed from the placed ball to leave only a goal between the teams. Mullinvat stuck the back of the net again and followed it up with a point. Dunnamaggin piled pressure on the Mullinvat goal and forced two great saves from their goalie with shots from Eoghan Kearney. Ray Cody eventually got some reward from the pressure pointing from play, but it was Mullinvat who found the back of the net again just before the end to extend their lead. However, it was Andrew Fitzpatrick, who was busy throughout at centre back who had the last say with a pointed free.
