Intermediates Vs St. Patrick’s, Byrne Cup 28th June 2013
The intermediate hurlers took on St. Patricks in Ballyragget on Friday evening 28th June. Dunnamaggin got off to the perfect start when Seaghan O’Neill found the back of the net nearly immediately from the throw in. St. Pats soon got into their stride and put over four points. Peter Kenneally responded with a good point from play. Then came Dunnamaggin’s second goal from Darren Fitzpatrick who raced through from midfield and with excellent interplay from Peter Kenneally crashed the ball to the back of the net. Nearly immediately Dunnamaggin were awarded a penalty when Anthony Kearney was fouled in the square and Kieran Bergin duly crashed the ball to the back of the net. Darren followed this up with a good point from play. Dunnamaggin were then dealt a double injury blow when Noel hickey and Peter Kenneally had to be replaced by john Fitzpatrick and Conor Long. St.Pat’s took full advantage of the reshuffled team and found the back of the net and pointed 5 times to Dunnamaggin’s one from Kiernan Bergin to send the teams in level at half time 3:03 to 1:09.
St. Pat’s started the second half in a gallop scoring 2:01 in the opening minutes. Dunnamaggin eventually steadied the ship and through points from Andrew Fitzpatrick, Seaghan O’Neill and Kiernan Bergin started to get back into the game to St.Pat’s one point. John Fitzpatrick (2) and Kiernan then pointed to bring Dunnamaggin right back into the game. William Moylan was now on the field for Eoghan Kearney. However it was Ballyragget who finished of the match by finding the net once more and converting another two points. Full time score Dunnamaggin 3:09 to St.Patricks 4:13
