Senior Football Vs Clara

The senior footballers finally got their season up and running after many weeks of postponed games with a good win over Clara under lights in Piltown on Friday evening 21st Feb.
After some initial wayward shooting by both sides Tommy Maher & Kiernan Bergin (2) put Kilmoganny into the lead before Mark Heffernan floated in a ball from a long way out which somehow eluded the goalie and found the back of the net on the 17min mark. Sean Connery, Andrew Fitzpatrick and Darren Fitzpatrick all found the scoreboard before Clara eventually registered their first scores with two points just before half time. Kilmoganny 1-7 Clara 0-2.
Mark Dowling got a good point after the restart before Clara responded with two of their own. Ray Cody now replaced John Fitzpatrick and Anthony Kearney came on for Donal O’Shea. Kilmoganny and Clara traded points before Kiernan Bergin, and Andrew Fitzpatrick pushed out Kilmoganny lead further. Clara however found a purple patch and netted a goal and a point but Kilmoganny responded through Anthony Kearney. Jason Doherty came on for Andrew Fitzpatrick.Clara however found the net again just before the stroke of full time but it was not enough and Kilmoganny ran out 1-14 to 2-5 winners. Next up Railyard.
