U14 HL Vs St.Lachtain’s 2nd June 2014
The U14 hurlers played their final league game on Sunday evening last against St.Lachtain’s. In a high scoring and every entertaining game both sides gave of their all right up to the final whistle. Dunnamaggin opened the scoring thro points from Darragh O’Keefe, Robbie McCauley and Adam Fitzpatrick but St.Lachtain’s responded with 1-1 scoring the first of seven goals in this game, they added two more points before Robbie got Dunnamaggin back on track with a point which was followed up with ones from Denis Walsh and Robbie again to bring the sides level, but before long St.Lachtain’s had bagged another goal 0:6 to 2:3. Dunnamaggin had made some positional changes moving Harry Walsh to full back and Alex Moore up front and it seemed to be working when they hit their opponents for five unanswered points thro Robbie, Denis, Adam, Darragh (2) to send the sides in at half time Dunnamaggin 11pts St.Lachtain’s 2:3
Daniel O’Neill came on for Darragh Walsh at Half time and Dunnamaggin opened the scoring with a fine point but yet again St.Lachtain’s responded with a goal and added two points to it. Robbie McCauley started the Dunnamaggin response with a well taken free and Adam chipped in with one also to narrow the gap. Then popped up the ever running Darragh O’Keefe to take a very good point, which was followed up by another free from Robbie. Game on. Alex Moore then put some distance between the teams with a very well taken goal. Eddie Dunne then came on for Sean O’Keefe and with his first touch pointed. St.Lachtain’s still did not waver and yet again found the back of the net. However that was to be their last score. Alex found the net again before Darragh finished the scoring for Dunamaggin to round off a good win. Dunnamaggin 3:17 St.Lachtain’s 4:5
They have now topped their league winning all but one game. Well done to all the players and mentors.
