U16 Roinn B HC Preliminary RD Vs James Stephens B 14th August 2014
The impressive Kells Rd Ground was the venue for the U16’s to start their championship off on Thursday evening last. Dunnamaggin started very well racing to a lead with points from play from Morgan Thomas, Dara Keane and Rory Lodge. Dunnamaggin were playing with a strong breeze and they took full advantage of it landing many balls deep into the Village’s full back line. Conor Hoban on the 10th min found the net from one of these balls from a tight angle which was followed up nearly immediately by the ever running Morgan who also struck goal. Dara Keane then put over a super point from the sideline midway through the half.2-04 to 0-0. James Stephens then registered their first score, a well taken goal that Dunnamaggin Shane Ivory-Corr (who was good though out) could do little about. It was however cancelled out immediately when Conor Lawlor found the back of the net. Rory lodge then pointed again after some very strong running. Conor Lawlor then traded points with James Stephens just before half time Dunnamaggin 3-06 James Stephens B 1-01
Dunnamaggin started the second half well with good points from Harry Walsh and Conor Lawlor, but James Stephens again responded with a goal and a point. Morgan, Roy Cullen and Rory extended Dunnamaggins lead with three further points. 3-11 to 2-02 James Stephens, try as they might just could not break down the Dunnamaggin Half back Line of Brian Farrell, Victor Costello and Ian Walsh, who were superb throughout. Harry Walsh added another goal and Roy Cullen added a point before Rory Lodge had the last score of the game with a well taken goal. FT Dunnamaggin 5-12 James Stephens B 2-04
