U14HC Vs Thomastown

U14 Tier 1 Championship Dunnamaggin Vs Thomastown(Thanks to Ciaran McCauley for Match report)
Dunnamaggin took on Thomastown on Tuesday evening last in, what turned out to be a fast paced game contested well by both sides. Dunnamaggin started off the scoring with a point from a 65' by Harry Walsh followed a minute later by a point from Robbie McCauley. This lead was to be short-lived, however, when a save from Dillon Wall was met on the rebound and the ball buried in the Dunnamaggin net. Harry and Robbie continued their double act again with a point from a free by Harry and a point from play by Robbie. Thomastown returned a point minutes later to level the score again (0-4 to 1-1) but within three minutes it was Andy Hickey's turn to put the ball over the bar. Again, Thomastown came back this time with two points, one from play and the other a free. In the 20th minute, a run on goal by Robbie saw him being taken down in the box and Dunnamaggin were awarded a penalty. Robbie stepped up to the spot but the goalkeeper saved the attempt on goal. Adam Fitzpatrick was quick to respond and retrieved the deflected ball and put it over the bar to level the scores once again. In the 22nd minute, Dunnamaggin had a lucky escape when a Thomastown shot at goal bounced off the upright. The final scores of the first half came again from Robbie (free) and Harry (65'). Half time score, Dunnamaggin 0-8 Thomastown 1-3

Thomastown started the second half with two points to bring the sides level yet again!. But, in the 4th minute, Denis Walsh had a cracking shot at goal deflected by the keeper but straight into the path of Robbie, who sent it to the back of the net to put Dunnamaggin back in front. Thomastown got another point but over the next 15 mins Dunnamaggin came flying with point after point, with Thomastown getting but one in the interim. Dunnamaggin's points came from Denis Walsh (2), Robbie McCauley (3), Ian Walsh (2). Thomastown did score three minutes from the end with a goal but this was to be their last score. Dunnamaggin finished the game with Robbie catching the ball from the keepers puck out and driving it back over the bar. The final score was Dunnamaggin 1-17 Thomastown 2-7 sending Dunnamaggin into the next round of the U14 Tier 1 championship against James Stephens
