U16 HL S/F Vs Clara
22/09/2014
Dunnamaggin faced Clara on Tuesday evening in the U16 HL Roinn B semi Final. Dunnamaggin went into the game facing a strong Clara side who they have had some great battles with over the summer. Clara dominated for the first twenty minutes, and converted this dominance to scores with four points (one from play) and a close range driving shot to the back of the net. Luke Fitzpatrick got Dunnamaggin's first score in the twentieth minute with a goal. Only two more scores came in the first half with a point for each team, Morgan Thomas scoring a free. Both sides got a free each before half time, both going wide of the posts. HT score Clara 1-5 Dunnamaggin 1-01
The second half began with points back and forth between both sides with three points each in the first ten minutes (Ian Walsh, Roy Cullen & Dara Keane for Dunnamaggin).
Clara got the first goal of the second half in the twentieth minute but the response was quick from Dunnamaggin with a great, long range run from Morgan Thomas and a goal for his efforts. Clara did not sit back and their No 9 followed Morgan's example with a run of his own and a powerful shot at goal deflected to the top left hand corner of the net. Two more points for Dunnamaggin from Rory Lodge and Morgan Thomas brought the scores to within 5 points but in the eighteenth minute Clara found the net once more. The fading light under floodlights didn't help either side in their ability to clearly see the ball but, with Clara on the rampage, it was Dunnamaggin who were to fall foul to it the most. Morgan Thomas got two more points from free's but these were to be their last scores. Clara finished the night with three more points and one more goal.
