U14 Football Championship Final

01 May 2013

The U14 footballers contested the Roinn B championship final on Wednesday evening against Mooncoin in Mooncoin. Kilmoganny took the game to Mooncoin and scored the opening two points through Eddie Dunne and Conor Lawlor before Mooncoin responded with a point. Daragh O’Keeffe responded with a well taken point half way through the first half. Then followed a period of sustained pressure from Mooncoin which saw them hit the crossbar and force an excellent penalty save from Cathal Ryan. The pressure on the Kilmoganny goal was relentless and Mooncoin yielded 2 goals and 8 points despite the best efforts of the Kilmoganny defence. Kilmoganny rallied again and broke forward just before the half time whistle and an excellent ball from Robbie McCauley set up Jamie McLoughlin to rattle the Mooncoin net. This score was followed up with an excellent free from Daragh O’Keeffe. Mooncoin however had the last say of the half when they found the net again. Half time Kilmoganny 1-4 Mooncoin 3-8. Mooncoin started the second half with two goals but Kilmoganny responded well with a goal of their own from Robbie McCauley. Mooncoin rallied yet again with two goals and a point. Kilmoganny introduced some substitutes and it sparked a mini revival with Conor Lawlor and Eddie Dunne finding the back of the net for Kilmoganny. Luke Fitzpatrick scored a good point and Nicky O’Shea found the back of the net just before the finish but Mooncoin had not finished their scoring either and they eventually ran out winners on a score line of Kilmoganny 5-5 to Mooncoin 9-10.Panel:-Cathal Ryan, Conor Hoban, Killian Lafford, Alex Moore, Adam Fitzpatrick, Luke Fitzpatrick, Dylan Crehan, Ian Walsh, Daragh O’Keeffe, Robbie McCauley, Eddie Dunne,  Rory Lodge, Conor Brett, Conor Lawlor, Jamie McLoughlin, Andy hickey, Nicky O’Shea, Ger Coffey, Sean Carroll, Eoin O’Driscoll, Dylan Wall.
