U13 Schools Football

Dunnamaggin  4-7St Canices "B" 4-4      


Dunnamaggin U-13 school footballers began the year with a great win over city side St Canice's "B"  in their first round of matches.Played on a beautiful sunny afternoon in Dunnamaggin it was a good fair game all the way ,with Dunnamaggin only pulling away in last ten minutes.       Dunnamaggin goaled in the third minute from Joe Fitzpatrick,with St Canice's levelling matters two minutes later with their own goal.Joe goaled again after eight minutes following good work from captain of the day Sean O' Keeffee.Fine play from Darragh Walsh in mid-field set up Dylan Carroll for a well taken point before Canice's hit back for 2-1.Arron Moore pointed after Gavin Cleere worked hard to get ball through to him.     Canice's slipped through for their fourth goal of the half from some sloppy Dunnamaggin play.The lads rallied and with strong football from Conor Denny and Andy Hickey they turned the tide and set up Aidan O'Neill for a lovely point.Joe Fitz completed his hat-trick just on half time after great defensive work fromJimmy O'Neill. HALF TIMEDunnamaggin  3-3St Canices       4-1 


St Canice's started the second half better with two quick points.Michael Thomas made some vital blocks to stem the Canice's men and with Nathan Drennan and Tadhg O'Sullivan getting on top of their opponents we slowly began to make our way back into the game.Dylan Carroll pointed two,,followed by another Arron Moore point.The very  hard working Sean O'Keeffee then set up Ben Kinsella for a very well taken goal from a tight angle,to give Dunnamaggin a little cushion for the last five minutes.Dunnamaggin finished with two points from Dylan Carroll and Darragh Walsh.
