Hurlers Retain Intermediate status

09 October 2015

Hurlers retain Intermediate status:

Last Saturday evening 10th Oct in St. John’s Park, Kilkenny turned out to be a day of rejoicing for Dunnamaggin as the Hurling team by a margin of 0 – 19 to 0 – 15 defeated the Emeralds in the relegation Intermediate final. The team which had played very well all through the year but just came up short in most games by a few points were in a final that all clubs wish to avoid. Emeralds began the brighter and registered 3 points before Dunnamaggin opened their account. Yet the Southern team emerged with a 0 – 13 to 0 – 10 lead at the interval. Both teams went at it hammer and thongs in the second half and Emeralds did reduce the difference to a point directly from the restart. But the half back line of Canice Hickey, Michael Cody and William Phelan kept the scoring threat of Emeralds half forward line largely quite and saw Dunnamaggin emerging victorious on a score of 0 – 19 to 0 – 15.Well  done to all the players and to Sean and his extended management team.
