CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTS will be switched on in Dunamaggan on Tuesday next 15th December at about 7.00 p.m. The Scouts are decoration and lighting up a tree in Dunamaggan this Christmas.

KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday 2nd December were: 1st: Grace Landy & Elizabeth Lanigan; 2nd; Margaret Dunne & Mary Delaney; 3rd; Moyra Hickey & Nellie Lahart. Next Wednesday is Christmas prize night.
KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: The Leinster 40 x 20 Junior B Singles trials have taken place with Eoin Wallace (Kells) defeated by Eddie Clifford (O’Loughlin’s), Diarmuid Burke defeated Wesley Smyth (Windgap), Dan Breen was defeated by Eamonn Hawe (Windgap) and Anthony Martin defeated Shane Power (Windgap). Good luck to Diarmuid and Anthony in the 40 x 20 Leinster championships. The Bill Duggan Memorial 40 x 20 Senior Doubles tournament took place in Broadford, Co. Limerick and Patrick and Peter Funchion were invited to attend. They defeated Ger Coonan/Colin Crehan but were defeated in the semi-final by the eventual winners Robbie McCarthy and Tom Sheridan. The Adult 40 x 20 County League has commenced and in Masters B1 Pat Funchion defeated Willie Pratt (O’Loughlin’s); in Masters B2 Paddy Fennelly was defeated by Eoin Brannigan (O’Loughlin’s) and in Division 1A Peter Funchion defeated J.J. English (Goresbridge).
PAT WALSH MEMORIAL COMMITTEE at its recent meeting on December 1st (1) decided that on Sundays 24th & 31st January old photographs will be scanned for the Easter Exhibition; (2) Any person with memorabilia of the period 1900 – 1921 who would like them to be displayed next Easter is asked to contact Chairperson, Ned Kirwan, leave details in the Parochial House or contact any member of the committee; (3) Thanked all who had purchased the Memorial Christmas Cards: (4) Pupils in the three schools in the parish are invited to submit projects related to the 1916 period; (5) A draft outline of the proposals was submitted to the Co. Council; (6) A major clean-up of the village will take place in the Spring; (7) It is intended to finalize the programme of events at the next meeting on 12th January.
BOARDS OF MANAGEMENT: New Boards of Management have been appointed for the next 4 years for each of the Schools in Dunamaggan Parish. The Chairperson of each Board is Rev. Nicholas Flavin; the other members are: St. Leonard’s Dunamaggan: Michael Davis, Jim Hickey, Yvonne Lyons, Vera O’Dwyer, Jackie Delahunty, James Rossiter and Niamh Nesbitt; St. Brigid’s Kells: David Healy, Declan Dunne, Leah Cullen, Maura Brennan, Irene Browne, Mary Doherty and Fiona O’Sullivan; St. Eoghan’s, Kilmoganny: Breda Cahill, Ivan Doran, Ruth Deady, Rosaleen Carroll, Tom Hickey, Ciaran Moore and Maria Minogue.
THE ADVENT PENITENTIAL SERVICES will take place during weekend masses on the 19th December in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny at 7.00 p.m. and on the 20th December in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny at 9.30 a.m. and in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan at 11.00 a.m.
L’ARCHE CHARITY WALK: L’Arche provides supported living for people with intellectual disabilities. Our model of care is based on a shared community living whereby assistants and those we serve live together, sharing life’s joys and challenges. While based in Kilkenny we support people from across the South East region. L'Arche fosters an environment to celebrate the unique value of each and every person in our community, recognizing our need of one another, ensuring our residents lead more inclusive, meaningful and dignified lives. On St. Stephens Day we are holding our inaugural Slievenamon charity trek. It promises to be a great family event after which we will be providing refreshments for participants and supporters alike. Registration will be open from 9.00 a.m. in the Community Hall Kilcash. Please come along and walk off the Christmas Day excess while supporting a wonderful cause. YEAR OF MERCY: DIOCESAN CELEBRATION TO INAUGURATE THE GREAT JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY – Be merciful like the Father. The Jubilee Year of Mercy will be inaugurated on 8th December 2015, the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception and will run until 20th November 2016 which is the solemnity of Christ the King. Bishop Freeman will inaugurate the Great Jubilee Year of Mercy in our diocese with the celebration of the Eucharist with priests, religious and the lay faithful, on Sunday, 13th December 2015 in St. Marys Cathedral at 5.30 p.m. The beginning of the Jubilee Year is always solemnly marked by the opening of a Holy Door by the Pope in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. For this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis asks each bishop throughout the world, to include a Holy Door of Mercy in their dioceses so that everyone throughout the world may be able to celebrate the Jubilee. Bishop Seamus, along with bishops throughout the world on that day, in their dioceses, will officially open the Holy Door of Mercy, which is currently being prepared in St. Mary’s Cathedral.
A PARISH FINANCE COMMITTEE meeting will take place on next Tuesday 15th December at 8.00 p.m. in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan.
