New Hurling Helmet and Football Mouthgaurd Rules
From yesterday New Years Day January 1st 2014 all clubs, coaches, officers, players and parents should be aware of the new rules concerning Health and Safety and Insurance for Hurling and Football that are NOW IN PLACE.
FOOTBALL: The use of Mouthgaurds is compulsory for all ages after it has been extended from U18 level in 2013 to include Adults from now on.
HURLING: In all Hurling Games and Hurling Practice Sessions it shall be mandatory for, and the responsibility of, each individual player to wear a helmet with a facial guard that meets the standard set out in IS:355 or other replacement standard as determined by the National Safety Authority of Ireland (NSAI). Such helmets shall not be modified from their original manufactured state in any circumstances.
To assist Jim Fennelly of the Schools Board has a good supply of helmets of all sizes at present. Jim can order more in bulk for the clubs as the need arises. The price of a new helmet was never as low at €30 for sizes up to large and €35 for extra large.
As a result I would be obliged if you can cascade theese messages through to everyone involved in the games as all coaches, officers, players and parents.
