Annual GAA Presentations

28 February 2015

DUNAMAGGAN GAA CLUB The Annual GAA presentations were held on Saturday last. First up were the Juvenile presentations in St. Leonard’s Hall Dunnamaggin on Saturday afternoon. The trophy table was full as the achievements of the Juvenile club were exceptional once again. First up to receive their awards from County stars David Herity and William Phelan were the local representatives on the Community Games team which won the County Final and were beaten in Leinster semifinal. This was followed by a Special presentation to Ian Walsh by club chairman John Fitzpatrick for playing on the Victorious U 14 Kilkenny Team that won the Tony Forristal Cup. Then the all-conquering U 14 team received their medals for the Four Titles they won during the year, Hurling League, Roinn A tier B hurling championship and Football Championship and Football League. The last awards of the afternoon were given to the U 16 team who were crowded Hurling Tier champions last year. Well done to all on their success last year and best wishes for the coming year.

The Adult awards were presented later on Saturday night in Townsend's Dunnamaggin. First up to get their medals were the U 21 hurlers who were crowned southern champions last year. This was followed by presentations to Michael Cody, William Phelan and David Herity who were on winning All-Ireland teams this year. David Herity was given an additional presentation from the club to mark his retirement from the Kilkenny panel. On accepting the award David spoke passionately about what it means to hurl for Kilkenny and what the club means to him. Club Chairman, John Hickey, then presented the Clubman of the year award to the family of the late Dick O'Keeffe who was a tireless worker and supporter of the club right up until the time of his sudden death. The Last award of the night was hurler of the year and it went to Paddy Delaney a very deserving award for the determination and passion Paddy displayed while playing for Dunnamaggin this year.
