DUNAMAGGAN U 12 HURLERS TOURNAMENT WINNERS: The Dunnamaggin team that
won the Richie Young tournament in Tullogher on Saturday 14th beating Glenmore by a single
point. In scorching conditions both sides displayed some great hurling in the opening few minutes
with both sides trading points. Then Dunnamaggin scored what seemed to be a good goal but it
was ruled out for a square ball. Dunnamaggin leading by a point were hurling up a storm with
Jimmy O'Neill and Shaun O'Keeffe getting the better of their markers to push Dunnamaggin one
point in-front. Then against the run of play Glenmore scored a good goal as half time drew near.
Then just on the stroke of half time Glenmore got another goal as a miss-hit free was crewely
deflected into the goal. The half time score was Dunnamaggin 0 - 3 Glenmore 2 - 2.
Dunnamaggin made some positional changes, moving Denis Walsh to full forward and it provided
immediate return with Denis scoring a goal. Sean O'Keeffe, who was immense throughout scored a
great point. Glenmore sneaked a point back before Dunnamaggin found the net again to go in-front
with 10 minutes remaining. Sean Rossiter then pulled of a great save in the goal which seemed to
spur the Dunnamaggin lads on further and Aidan O'Neill coolly put over two great points. As the
game drew to a close Glenmore did get a point back but with Joe Fitzpatrick commanding the full
back position and the solid half back line of Ruairi Holden, Jimmy O'Neill and Tom Lodge
clearing their wings the cup was deservedly Dunnamaggin’s  for the third year in a row. Well done
to all involved.
